Tired. Human. But Still Called: Why You Can't Quit Yet

You’ve thought about it, haven’t you?
You’ve sat in your car after church, hands gripping the steering wheel, eyes filled with tears, whispering, “Lord, I can’t do this anymore.”
You’ve carried the weight of no-shows, burnout, and unmet expectations. You’ve smiled through services while feeling invisible, poured out every ounce of energy to serve children and families, and gone home wondering if it even mattered.
You’ve given your yes to a ministry that few fully understand — one that rarely gets applause, one that constantly requires you to pour out even when your cup feels bone dry.
And yet… here you are.
Still standing.Still showing up.Still serving.
Why? Because deep down, you know this isn’t just about crafts, goldfish, and Bible stories. This is about souls.
This is about a generation of children who may never know the love of Jesus unless someone like you shows up to tell them.
You’re Fighting a Spiritual Battle That the World Doesn’t See
Children’s Ministry is not for the faint of heart. You’re not just running a classroom — you’re waging war for the hearts of the next generation. Every smile you offer, every Scripture you teach, every hug you give to a child who’s acting out because of what’s happening at home — that’s spiritual warfare. You are pushing back darkness every single time you choose to show up.
And the enemy knows it. That’s why he whispers, “Quit.”
He knows your presence in that room is dangerous to his agenda. He knows the Word you speak over that child might be the seed that changes their destiny. He knows your faithfulness makes heaven louder. So yes, he attacks your confidence. He stirs frustration. He magnifies exhaustion.Because he knows if he can get you to walk away, he silences a voice that speaks life to the next generation.
You’re Planting Seeds That You May Never See Bloom
You may never see the fruit of your faithfulness this side of heaven. But one day — maybe years from now — a grown man will stand on a stage and say, “When I was seven, my Children’s Ministry leader told me Jesus loved me. That changed everything.” A young woman will lead her own classroom and smile as she remembers the leader who prayed with her when she was afraid. And there will be a child — maybe the one who never sat still, who never seemed to listen — who will open a Bible as an adult and remember you. They’ll remember your kindness. Your patience. Your consistency. They’ll remember that you didn’t quit on them. And that memory will lead them straight to Jesus.
You’re Not Invisible — You’re Instrumental
I know it feels like no one notices. I know there are Sundays when you’re running on fumes and no one stops to say thank you.
But Heaven sees. God sees.
Every diaper changed. Every craft prepared. Every hour spent organizing check-in or calming a crying child — He’s seen it all.
You are not unseen. You are essential.
You are not forgotten. You are favored.
You are not “just a volunteer.” You are a Kingdom builder.
Galatians 6:9 says it like this:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The harvest is coming, friend. Don’t quit before it does.
This Calling Is Sacred
If you were called into Children’s Ministry, you were called into something holy.
It’s not babysitting. It’s not filling time so adults can be in “real church.”It’s ministry — pure and powerful. You are shaping world changers. You’re building the spiritual foundations of tomorrow’s pastors, missionaries, teachers, and parents.
You’re helping kids hear the voice of God for the first time.
That’s sacred work. That’s Kingdom work. And God trusted you with it.
So What Do You Do When You Feel Like Quitting?
You pause. You rest. You cry if you need to.
But you do not quit.
Because God didn’t bring you this far to walk away in weariness.
He will refresh you. He will strengthen you. He will remind you why He called you in the first place. Go back to that moment when you said yes — when you felt the tug of the Holy Spirit and you knew this was where you were meant to be. That fire is still in you.
Fan it again.
Leader, wipe your tears, lift your head, and step back into that room with renewed strength.
Because God isn’t finished with you. And He’s not finished with them either.
Keep showing up. Keep loving big.
Keep believing that your yes still matters.
Because it does. 💛
